Welsh Mountain Home is pleased to announce the appointment of David J. Byler, MD, of Leola, to its Board of Directors.

Byler brings decades of medical experience and a deep commitment to service, faith, and community to his new role. A retired family physician, he served for more than 30 years as a medical director in an Intermediate Care Facility/Skilled Nursing Facility in West Virginia, where he developed a strong understanding of the complex medical, emotional, and spiritual needs of older adults.

Welsh Mountain Home board chair Lamar Benner is excited to see Byler added to the board saying, “I welcome David to the board, his career experience brings a perspective that will enable him to contribute to the board and Welsh Mountain Home.”

“I am grateful for Dr. Byler’s willingness to serve on our board,” says Executive Director Mona Frey. “His medical expertise and enthusiasm for our mission will be an asset to our residents and broader organization.”

“I am looking forward to serving on the Welsh Mountain Home board and supporting its mission to serve those in need within our community,” says Dr. Byler. “It is a privilege to partner with Welsh Mountain Home and Landis Communities to continue this important ministry.”

A member of Carpenter Community Church, Byler is actively engaged in church leadership and service, currently serving as a central accountant and previously as a deacon, elder, and leadership team member. His community involvement also includes mentoring and teaching at The Potter’s House and volunteering his skills as a handyman with Align Life.
